Catastrophic flooding of 2008 required the City of Coralville to rebuild commercial districts while building resilience against future flood events. Federal, State, CDBG, and EDA funding requirements tied to the NEPA process, along with the presence of jurisdictional wetlands, protected mussels, and protected bat habitat required thorough review, planning and alternatives management and mitigation design to meet multiple overlapping requirements.

Impact7G was instrumental in bringing the City’s needs and design together with regulatory interests and funding requirements such that an effective and resilient flood management system was completed and environmentally compliant. Through Impact7G’s wetland permitting, mitigation design, and construction oversight services, compensatory mitigation became an amenity to the City’s parks and trail system while meeting regulatory obligations and facilitating flood resilience measures.
