Klein Quarry is a large open-pit limestone quarry that is nearly surrounded by expanding urban areas of Iowa City, Coralville, and Tiffin. Quarry owner and operator River Products Company, Inc. holds conservation objectives for habitat and wetland preservation, while safeguarding natural resources, and providing a buffer between quarry activities and surrounding urban development.

Since 2011, Impact7G has worked closely with Klein Quarry to provide an array of environmental services which facilitate short- and long-term planning and day-to-day management of the conservation areas, including riparian woodlands, forest ecotone, mature oak-hickory savanna, and prairie buffers. Early planning efforts combined with targeted practices and adaptive management have helped to restore, establish, and expand the land’s natural areas assets.
