The Lee County Career Center located just north of Montrose, Iowa is a public-private partnership that focuses on job retention and the economic growth of Lee County, Iowa. The vision for the Center is to create a site where students can learn about skilled trades, as well as gain employability skills and specific job opportunities within Lee County.

Impact7G was hired by the Lee County Economic Development Group to develop a conceptual site plan for future development of the 13-acre site, including site amenities such as trails, public art, stormwater management features, signage, and public plaza spaces. Impact7G’s licensed drone operator captured aerial footage of the site for creation of a short promotional video to garner excitement for future use of the site. In line with client’s vision for the site and with Impact7G’s mission, low-impact development practices were incorporated into the final conceptual design. These practices included permeable pavers, solar roof panels, LED lighting, stormwater infiltration trenches and native plants, rain gardens, and improved passive energy design. Three iterations of the site plan were created in order to provide flexibility as to lot sizing and configurations.
